About Us

Fierro Vaquero

Since I was a child, I liked horses. My childhood dream was to be a cowboy. I used to ask my mom if there were still ranches because I wanted to be a cowboy when I grew up. As a child, I enjoyed it. After school, I would ride young calves, then cows, and eventually, I even started riding bulls at the rodeos in Creel. Later, I began taming wild horses.

I started working as a cowboy here in Creel when I was 15 years old. Then, around the age of 18, I began working in feedlots in Cuauhtémoc. I was sent to very large ranches where we would brand cattle, sometimes with up to 5,000 heads of cattle. I also spent time on the border, taking care of racing horses, and at some ranches near the Palomas border.

I returned to Creel with the idea of offering horseback tours, but I didn’t have the investment to start over. I resumed working as a cowboy, now with more experience, for the same gentleman in Creel. Later, an American arrived, and we started working even more to transport cattle to the United States. During my time working with him, I regained the intention of offering tours and met some Swiss tourists. I became their guide to Batopilas.

Since then, I’ve had one or two beloved horses, and I work for someone else, providing tours. In 2010, I started slowly, taking just two tourists, and then three. That’s how my company began.

Growing up and being born here helped me, as I always enjoyed exploring the mountains and canyons of Tararecua since I was a child. It started from childhood. My work as a cowboy was crucial because I was always in the mountains, regardless of whether there were roads, searching for calves and cows that had wandered off the pastures. There, I learned to track their footprints and trace them until I found them.
